Meeting the standards by design and key partnerships

PHIGS, as a prospective North Carolina private residential child-care organization, is being developed to meet or exceed the minimum reasonable and prudent parent standard established in G.S. 131D-10.2A. (N.C.G.S. § 131D-10.2A). The statute states the “Reasonable and Prudent Parent Standard” is the standard characterized by “careful and sensible parental decisions that are reasonably intended to maintain the health, safety, and best interests of the child while at the same time encouraging the emotional and developmental growth of the child that a caregiver shall use when determining whether to allow a child to participate in extracurricular, enrichment, cultural, and social activities.” PHIGS operates within this standard from a Christian, faith-based perspective.

PHIGS is also actively engaged in developing key partnerships with local healthcare providers, educational institutions, and civic groups to create trusted and value-added services and opportunities for the girls’ growth and development. Some of these key partnerships are being contractually established now that PHIGS' 1023 filing is in the approval process. As these very intentional relationships formalize, watch for updates and further details in the weeks and months ahead.
